The repurpsing project posed a new challenge for me as a writer: I had to taken something I had already written, something I had already deemed was the best I could do, and change its intended audience and expand the argument. For such a task, I wanted to choose something that would be meaningful to me as a continued through my growth  as a writer in the Gateway course. I chose an article I had written in high school about the 2013 Grammys (click the image below "Original Piece" in the upper left corner for the entire article), and music fufilled my goal of writing about something I enjoy. For me, listening to music brings enjoyment in more than just its aucoustic appeal. The real pleasure comes in breaking down the writers words, identifying lyrical nuance, and discovering the underlying meaning. This repurposing project required a similar process. I re-watched the 2013 Grammy Award show, not just to enjoy the performances and take note of the winners and losers. I critically examined what made certain musical perfomances better than others, and whether the Grammy awards were rewarding the best artists or the artists with the best images. In order to best reach the young adult audience this was intended for, I chose to use a blog form, which utilizes the technolgical affordances that are perfect for this rhetorical situation.
